News Consumption and Trust Report

News consumption habits, which sources they trust, and how misinformation and media skepticism are shaping their worldview.

Gen Z and Millennials aren’t really looking for the news anymore. It finds them, mostly in their social feeds and mostly in video form. YPulse’s newest News Consumption and Trust Behavioral Report finds that young people trust online and traditional sources about equally, but that doesn’t mean they trust much of anything. Fake news has already fooled plenty of them, and AI is adding a whole new layer of doubt. Where do they draw the line on AI in the news, and which platforms does each generation turn to first?

In YPulse’s 2026 News Consumption and Trust Report, we dive into why social media has become the default way young people find the news, how their trust splits between new and traditional news sources, and which roles they’re comfortable handing over to AI in how they get their news.
