Elon Musk is entering the world of artificial intelligence—just weeks after he signed an open letter warning against powerful AI systems. The Twitter tzar has been quite critical of AI, more specifically of OpenAI, despite having co-founded the tech giant before leaving the company a decade ago. But now, Musk is working on X.AI, a new generative AI startup planning to rival ChatGPT. Musk thinks “ChatGPT is politically biased and is planning to use X.AI Corp to create an AI model that is ‘truth-seeking.’” Our data shows that Musk’s Twitter ownership did impact opinions of the platform, but AI is gaining popularity quickly among young people, so he may be able to win them with this new platform. As it is, YPulse predicted that AI will become a norm for Gen Z this year—and we’ve quickly been proven right.
