Gen Z and Millennials’ favorite platform, TikTok, is adding gaming to the app. When asked which social media platform is the most addictive, 13-39-year-olds’ response was TikTok by a landslide, and they’re coming up with more ways to keep users hooked. First they launched shoppable content and virtual events, and now they plan on incorporating games. The app has already experimented with web-based in-app games created in partnership with gaming companies like Zynga, and according to reports they’re also planning to expand into interactive LIVE minigames with features like screen sharing. These LIVE games could increase interactions between creators and their followers, allowing them to literally play together in real time. YPulse predicted the “gamification of entertainment” would grow as more media brands turn their content into games and add gaming to their platforms, and gaming on TikTok could accelerate that trend.
