HBO Max is creating a TV show about popular Instagram celebrity gossip account DeuxMoi. YPulse told you that young people have been following tea accounts for celebrity gossip, and DeuxMoi has been especially popular in recent years. Now, it’s getting its own TV show, which is based on the upcoming book, Anon Pls. The book follows the protagonist Cricket Lopez, a “nobody assistant to a stylist” who turns her fashion Instagram account into a celebrity gossip account, which quickly takes off. It will be adapted into a series by Greg Berlanti, and produced by Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. HBO Max saw a major uptick in popularity among young consumers in the last year—and between the Gossip Girl reboot, Genera+ion, the upcoming Degrassi revival, and now a series based on DeuxMoi, it’s clear the streaming service knows how to target teen and young adult viewers.
