Netflix is turning TikTok’s viral cake-cutting trend into a baking competition show.

Mar 10 2022

Netflix is turning TikTok’s viral cake-cutting trend into a baking competition show. Rewind to 2020, mind-bending cake cutting videos are all over everyone’s FYP, proving that just about anything can be made into a cake—like a pair of shoes or non-dessert food items. Now, Netflix is bringing the trend to reality TV with Is It Cake?, a baking competition show where nine bakers will be tasked with making the most deceptive dessert for the chance to win $50,000 cash. Saturday Night Live writer and actor Mikey Day will host the series, and stars including Brittany Broski ( “Kombucha girl”), Rebecca Black, Karamo Brown, King Princess, and more will judge which baker’s creation is the most creative—and makes them question reality the most. YPulse predicted in 2021 that viral stories would be turned into TV and movie content, and Netflix continues delivering on that front with an upcoming movie about the social media famous grandma who invited a stranger to Thanksgiving and now a show about mind-bending cake designs.
