Virtual concerts are helping grow the metaverse.

Sep 23 2021

Virtual concerts are helping grow the metaverse. Conversations about the metaverse (a.k.a. the idea of a massive, centralized virtual community similar to Fortnite or Roblox) are becoming more popular as brands find new ways to reach young consumers and gamers alike. The biggest metaverse trend as of late is virtual concerts—Travis Scott, Ariana Grande, and Post Malone are a few artists who have helped turn the video game music trend into a mainstream music event. Now, Abba is launching a virtual concert experience next year and Twenty One Pilots recently kicked off its latest tour inside Roblox. The experience is growing among companies like Open Pit—a virtual events platform that holds concerts in Minecraft—and a concert-focused metaverse platform, Beatday, is reportedly under development to take the virtual concert trend even further.
