Some companies are adopting virtual communication tools and metaverse environments to combat “Zoom fatigue.”As the future of work continues to evolve, some companies are finding new ways to inspire digital collaboration among employees with metaverse-like platforms (the idea of a massive, centralized virtual community). Global talent mobility platform Topia transitioned its meetings from Google Meet to Rec Room—a cross-platform social application and metaverse space where employees can use a “maker pen” tool to prototype 3D virtual objects; employees at Stageverse (a 3D social metaverse platform) created their own metaverse environment for meetings/work activities; and Facebook launched a remote collaboration tool, Horizon Workrooms, where workers can access an immersive, video game-like environment via VR headsets. Non tech-focused organizations like Porsche and Nestle have also been working with virtual reality platform VRdirect to create engaging virtual onboarding meetings and conferences. Metaverse concepts are popping up left and right with fashion inside video gamesvirtual concerts, and more, and they’re a top way to create experiences for digital-first young consumers.
