Reebok created an AR tool enabling city youth to create their own basketball courts. The mobile tool is part of Reebok’s “Courting Greatness” campaign aimed at providing Gen Z kids in cities who don’t have access to official sports facilities with their own courts by pairing existing camera and measurement features in smartphones with augmented reality (AR). Users can access the tool via courtinggreatness.com, and when positioned 10 to 20 feet away from the intended play space the AR tool will “draw” the court’s dimensions, lines, and hoop. The brand is also working with local artists in New York City, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Atlanta to create playable court installations ahead of back-to-school season, and Reebok’s ability to show up for young consumers in real ways is helping the brand remain a Gen Z and Millennial athleisure favorite.
