The pandemic pushed some Millennials to tackle adult milestones. COVID created “a new world and a new economy,” and in a way it created a newly “adult” generation, causing some of them to be more independent and responsible. While stuck at home, many revamped their spaces and cooked more—and in some cases, cooked for the very first time. Plenty bought houses for the first time as well. According to a OnePoll survey, 80% of Millennials tackled a house renovation, while a Clever Real Estate survey found that 30% say the pandemic pushed them to house hunt sooner than expected. YPulse’s No Place Like Home trend report found that 64% of young consumers say they’ve become more interested in improving/fixing up their homes because of COVID-19, while our Life Milestones, Rewritten trend found home ownership became more valued—and common—in the last year.
