Meta is finally launching Threads in Europe. The X (Twitter) competitor is now available in the European Union, five months after it started in North America. The delayed release is due to the EU’s strict data and big tech regulations, including the Digital Services Act, which imposes new responsibilities on major social platform actors. Threads was the most talked-about social media last summer, initially gaining 100M users in its first week which made it the most rapidly downloaded app ever. Since then, however, YPulse research shows the app hasn’t really picked up among young people. (BBC)
