Instagram just launched Threads, a new Twitter competitor, and it’s blowing up  Social media just got a lot more complicated (as if it wasn’t enough already). This week, Instagram dropped Threads, a new app that allows users to share text updates and participate in public conversations posed as a Twitter competitor (much to the dismay of Elon Musk). Users can log in using their Instagram accounts and create posts with up to 500 characters, including links, photos, and videos up to 5 minutes long. The app aims to expand Instagram’s capabilities to include text content and create a positive and creative space for expressing ideas.
