This week, Instagram dropped Threads, a new app that allows users to share text updates and participate in public conversations posed as a Twitter competitor (much to the dismay of Elon Musk). Users can log in using their Instagram accounts and create posts with up to 500 characters, including links, photos, and videos up to 5 minutes long. The app aims to expand Instagram’s capabilities to include text content and create a positive and creative space for expressing ideas. And according to The New York Times, Threads was downloaded over 30M times in just 16 hours, taking the crown for the most rapidly downloaded app ever (even above ChatGPT).
