While Facebook still has over 2B daily users globally, the social platform is still vying for Gen Z’s attention to ensure its relevancy in the future. YPulse data shows that some Gen Zs are using the platform (44% of 13-17-year-olds), though the site is most popular among older Millennials, and especially the population of Millennial parents (74%). For Gen Z, Facebook is a dated platform and when they think of it, they picture “cheugy, older people, like parents posting pictures of their kids, random status updates and also people fighting about political issues.” Instead, young social media users are more often than not choosing TikTok and Instagram, however, we know they’re super into Facebook Marketplace because of their love for secondhand and affordable shopping. But to reel users back into the platform’s other functions, Facebook says it’s making artificial intelligence central to its plan. (Fortune)
