Denny’s is debuting a new augmented reality menu in honor of the chain’s 70th anniversary. The reworked menu is part of Denny’s “It’s Diner Time” initiative and they’ve invested over $25M to “upgrade and improve kitchen equipment, develop new food offerings, increase efficiency and decrease food waste.” Their new menu includes AR features that let diners use their phones to take a virtual tour of the menu (with its new items like Mac N’ Brisket Sizzlin’ Skillet and Oven-Baked Lasagna) as well as access exclusive deals. As part of a larger remodel, the company also rolled out new uniforms for employees and customer merchandise available for purchase on DinerDrip’s website. YPulse told you back in 2020 more brands need to have an AR plan to reach young consumers—and now Gen Z is wildly familiar with the tech on their favorite social platforms and shopping destinations.
