Millennials’ love of vinyl is still going strong. YPulse told you how vinyl is one of the analog products Millennials have been bringing back for years now, and with vinyl sales hitting an all-time high in 2021, it’s clear consumers’ fascination with vinyl isn’t going anywhere. Young listeners are driving the vinyl boom because they see them as a collector’s item and symbolic of “simpler” times when music listening was more hands-on and experiential. Jim Henderson, co-owner of Amoeba Music notes, “Vinyl is an audio, visual, and feel format. In my conversations with younger customers, vinyl has a similar emotional appeal as candy might have, especially picture discs and albums with color vinyl.” Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok certainly feed into their interest, as vinyl lovers use the platforms to build community while documenting their local vinyl finds.
