A new poll reports almost one in five Spotify users have left the platform because of the Joe Rogan dilemma.

Feb 08 2022

A new poll reports almost one in five Spotify users have left the platform because of the Joe Rogan dilemma. According to the February 1 poll by Forrester Research, 19% of Spotify users say they’ve canceled their service or plan to because of the Rogan situation, while 18.5% say they would consider canceling if more artists they like leave the platform. Additionally, 8.5% say they thought about canceling their subscription, but Spotify’s features were too important to them. Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and India Arie, are a few of the musicians who have left the platform so far, while Roxane Gay and Brené Brown have left or stated they will no longer be releasing new content. Gen Z and Millennials want brands to support the causes they care about—COVID-19 being one of the biggest—and they’ve made it clear they will stop purchasing from brands that don’t support the social causes they’re fighting for. YPulse’s causes, charity, and activism research shows boycotting a brand is one way young consumers show support for a cause. (Variety)
