Nail polish collections are the new foray into beauty for male celebrities.

Jan 13 2022

Nail polish collections are the new foray into beauty for male celebrities. As Gen Z and Millennials continue embracing gender-neutral fashion and beauty that is inclusive for all, nail polish is taking off in the male beauty space thanks to a number of celebrities who are creating their own brands. Harry Styles launched Pleasing in November, featuring “collectible” bottles topped with marblesque orbs; Machine Gun Kelly unveiled his brand, UN/DN Laqr, last month—and it sold out in four days; Tyler, the Creator’s Golf le Fleur fashion brand now offers three shades of nail polish; and Lil Yachty’s Crete is all about monochromatic shades with a matte finish. Machine Gun Kelly notes, “Polish is an extension of your outfit and what mood you’re in…I think of it like bracelets or earrings. It’s an interchangeable accessory.” According to NPD, sales in the nail category grew nine percent in 2021 from 2019. Launching a beauty collection has become a trend among young celebrities, and nail polish gives male celebrities even more opportunities into this space.
