Match is enlisting real-life matchmakers to help users make more meaningful connections on its dating app.

Match is enlisting real-life matchmakers to help users make more meaningful connections on its dating app. Composed of a 50-member team who have been trained as dating coaches by Match Group Inc., the dating app’s matchmakers will draw on their expertise and review of users’ answers to four questions to match them with two profiles each week. Questions include topics like what a person would change about their dating life and what sort of person a user gravitates toward. The service isn’t complimentary, however, and costs $4.99 per week for users who are interested. According to Match Group Americas’ Chief Executive, Amarnath Thombre, the pandemic has made singles more focused on finding a long-term relationship, so the service is the dating app’s answer to helping users get one step closer to finding their match. New and OG dating apps have been introducing a slew of new tools and interactive experiences to help young singles establish more meaningful connections, and YPulse’s Finding Love Post-COVID trend research found that over half of singles 18-years-old and over say they will be dating much more often once COVID-19 is over while many were waiting for a vaccine to start dating.
