Netflix is launching a TikTok-esque tool aimed at helping children discover kids’ content. Known as “Kids Clips,” the TikTok-like feature displays short videos previewing Netflix’s vast library of children’s programming and movies. The tool started rolling out this week in the U.S., Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America, Canada, Australia, and Ireland, and kids and parents can access the feature via Netflix’s iOS app where new clips are expected to hit the platform daily. YPulse told you about Netflix’s Fast Laughs earlier this year, and Kids Clips is an extension of that feature, but instead of comedy clips the content is kid-appropriate. Unlike TikTok’s vertical scroll video experience, however, Kids Clips are viewed horizontally to take over the entire screen, and kids will only be able to watch 10-20 clips at a time. YPulse’s recent media consumption data shows that 50% of Millennial parents say their kids watch video content daily on Netflix. (Bloomberg)
