“Fortnite” is betting on more interactive music experiences.

Sep 30 2021

Fortnite is betting on more interactive music experiences. Epic Games plans to bring more musical performances to Fortnite via the Soundwave Series, featuring artists from around the world that players will be able to interact and experience music from in-game. Egyptian artist Mohamed Hamaki is the first to perform in the Soundwave Series in an event kicking off tomorrow (October 1), and players are able to attend by jumping into a dedicated playlist or watching it during a battle royale match via a picture-in-picture mode. Epic Games plans to bring more musicians like Australian singer-songwriter Tones and I, Brazilian rapper Emicida, Japanese pop artist/music producer Gen Hoshino, and French-Malian singer Aya Nakamura to the Soundwave Series in the coming months. Concerts inside Fortnite have experienced massive success with young gamers, and YPulse’s Future of Experience trend research shows that 58% of young consumers are interested in attending a virtual event in the next six months.
