Millennials are bringing their wellness mindset to the house hunt.

Millennials are bringing their wellness mindset to the house hunt. Last year, young peoples’ homes became a sweet escape as they took on more home improvement projects to create spaces that promote relaxation. Wellness is top of mind for Millennial home buyers/renters, and smart home technology, home fitness spaces, large yards, and spaces for entertaining/community building are features they’re looking for to compliment their “healthy home” mindset, according to a study by COGNITION Smart Data (CDS) for Green Builder Media. Millennials have “seized the top influencer position in the housing sector, spending more money on buying and remodeling homes than any other audience segment,” according to CDS. YPulse’s No Place Like Home trend research found that 81% of homeowners and 82% of home renters are trying to make their home a nice place to spend time because of COVID-19, and the idea of home as a place that promotes self-care isn’t going away.
