Facebook is experimenting with a new video speed-dating app.

Facebook is experimenting with a new video speed-dating app. During lockdowns, apps have been coming up with creative ways to upgrade digital dating, and Facebook is the latest to join the trend. Developed by the social network’s NPE Team, the upcoming Sparked app requires users to have a Facebook profile to make an account. It will reportedly cycle people through speed video dates in four-minute intervals, and if both users are having a great time, they will be scheduled for a 10-minute second date. After that, the two individuals will be prompted to exchange contact information. The app, which is free to use, promises no public profiles, no swiping, and no DMs. YPulse’s Finding Love Post-COVID trend research found that 57% of 18-39-year-olds used dating apps during the pandemic.
