Digital clothing is making luxury fashion more accessible. Digital-only clothing in the gaming space took off last year, and the high fashion world quickly tapped into it. For their Fall/Winter 2021 collection, Balenciaga showcased their pieces “in the form of a bespoke video game,” and according to Lyst and The Fabricant’s Digital Fashion Report, searches for the brand jumped 41% on Lyst following its launch. Meanwhile, Gucci dropped digital sneakers between the price range of $8.99 and $12.99 as part of their “Campaign Sneaker Garage” on Roblox. Beyond letting customers experiment with fashion, digital fashion “allows for more individuals to try out and buy from brands that would otherwise be out of reach.” (Sourcing Journal)
