Why are more celebs selling fast food? We recently dug into the trend of fast food brands reinventing celebrity collaborations, and during a year ravaged by the pandemic, the partnerships did give them a boost. According to some brand experts, COVID “necessitated” the McDonald’s campaign with Travis Scott and others similar to it. While none of the restaurants are creating anything new, the trend leans heavily on “influencer marketing and lifestyle content,” and the idea that Quarter Pounder cheeseburgers, cauliflower bowls, or iced coffees are so “exciting and chic” that even Travis Scott, Shawn Mendes, or Charli D’Amelio would consume them. YPulse’s influencers and celebrities report found that 49% of 13-39-year-olds bought something that an online celebrity has spoken about or recommended. (Vox)
