Kids are fueling a boom in smart speakers. Smart speaker ownership among Gen Z and Millennials has been growing this year, and they’re becoming increasingly popular with younger kids as well. According to an Internet Matters report, Alexa and Siri will “become common” in children’s bedrooms. Even popular toy companies like Jazwares are testing ways for kids to be able to play with their toys while it’s connected to Alexa-enabled devices. Forty-two percent of families have been using tech together more often over the last three months: playing online games together (34%), watching tutorials (51%), streaming videos (41%), and online shopping at 36%. In 2019, YPulse’s Speaker Culture trend report found that 73% of young people believed that the majority of Americans would have smart speakers in their home in the next five years.
