A commencement speaker who called AI the “next industrial revolution” was booed by students.

A commencement speaker who called AI the “next industrial revolution” was booed by students. Last week, Gloria Caulfield received an outpouring of boos after she spent three minutes of her speech to University of Central Florida graduates touting AI as the tech of the future. For a graduating class looking at a shaky job market and shrinking entry-level prospects due in part to AI, Caulfield’s messaging clearly did not resonate. For humanities grads looking for jobs in creative spaces alone, AI has already eliminated more than 20K jobs. YPulse data shows that while young people are using AI tools at work or while job hunting, nearly half of 18-24-year-olds say there are fewer jobs available to them because of AI. (Gadget Review)
