Some young professionals aren’t just bringing an iced latte to their desks—they’re also bringing cannabis. A new study by EduBirdie found that more than a third (35%) of 21-29-year-olds said they get high during work—though that’s at home—and 17% admit to using some type of marijuana product in an office setting. More than half of Gen Z said cannabis reduces their stress, while 29% said it functions as a creative aid, and 22% even claim it boosts their performance. Between work from home and this use being harder monitor than drinking on the job would be, some employers are having to deal with both a “legal and practical gray area” over this. Whether they’re using it during work or not, though, nearly 30% of Gen Z spend between $50-$100 each month on cannabis products, which is adding up quickly given how costly essentials have become.
