Some Gen Z see job security as becoming their own CEO. As the applicant talent pool grows and entry-level jobs shrink, the unemployment level for 22-27-year-olds is the highest it’s been since the pandemic. Because of this, more and more young people are creating their own jobsβ€”from starting YouTube channels to make videos for brands, to designing and launching their own apps. While AI has been blamed for mass layoffs and shaky job prospects, many young adults are actually using AI tools to power their emerging businesses nowβ€”like using coding platforms to create prototypes. This entrepreneurial mindset seems to largely be rooted in necessity: a recent survey from Fiverr shows that 67% of Gen Z workers want to have multiple streams of income to feel financially secure.
