Gen Z is adopting more cats, and Rover is adjusting in response.

Mar 09 2026

Gen Z is adopting more cats, and Rover is adjusting in response. While pet-care brands like Rover have traditionally been centered on getting a dog-walker or sitter, they need to expand as young people’s pet ownership shifts. Dog ownership has slowed since the pandemic as many get their first real job and are expected to come in-office. But Gen Z cat ownership increased by 18% in 2024 alone, with a notable 24% increase among Millennial men. In turn, Rover has expanded their services tailored to cat owners, like cat-sitting at the owner’s home instead of sending their pet to stay somewhere else. (Business Insider)
