Speaking of weddings…Gen Z wants to get married, but they want “micro-commitments” first. Though everyone seems to think they’re opting out of sex and dating, new data shows Gen Z singles are more likely than older singles to believe they’ll find love and get married. But they’re not trying to jump into a lease, let alone a marriage, with someone they don’t even want in the group chat. For them, “taking it slow” means continually proving their connection in the ways they’ve learned through social media. The soft launch is hardly new, but a survey by Tinder shows 46% of Gen Z on social media do them—more than the 37% who hard launch—which is a public way to take themselves off the market. To even get to that stage, Gen Z is looking for emotional and social green flags like being kind to waitstaff and having honest conversations to ensure the commitment they’re making is actually based on shared values.
