Drone sightings in the northeast are causing panic on social media.

Dec 19 2024

Drone sightings in the northeast are causing panic on social media. Happening across New Jersey, New York, and Maryland, the phenomenon has Gen Z making memes about what it could mean—because really, what else would they do? With the government failing to give a clear response, conspiracy theories like civilians being spied on are gaining traction and increasing anxiety among some young people. However, the reactions to the drone footage are mostly lighthearted—many are joking that a disaster might relieve their commute troubles and living costs. (Some say they wouldn’t mind an alien takeover if it means avoiding the office.) Given the stress young people face regarding work and finances, it’s not surprising that they’re trying to find a silver lining in the chaos. (Fortune)
