Speaking of viral games, Neopets is making a huge comeback. After being bought a few months ago, Gen Z and Millennials were thrilled to hear their nostalgic fave was being reactivated. Its current userbase reflects the true power of that nostalgia: 40% are 25-34-years-old and 26% are 18-24. Since its returnΒ in November, the game has tripled its monthly users to 300Kβ€”though it boasted more than 25M in the early 2000s as a fully-economized, social gaming hub of a generation. And since it’s long lapse in major updates, fans have been making similar projects, which owner NetDragon is surprisingly embracing by integrating community projects to the siteβ€”perfect for the new gen of in-game designers.
