New research shows access to childcare services can eliminate significant obstacles to obtaining a degree for parents. The program Head Start is helping parents who are enrolled in classes by bringing childcare facilities straight to college campuses. Head Start offers complimentary, federally supported childcare programs aimed at fostering school readiness for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers from low-income households. Currently, only about 100 colleges have decided to partner with Head Start to help student parents, but with more than 16K facilities across the country, they are hoping to expand. (NPR)
