Best Buy Drops is giving users early access to high-profile deals before they’re released. The semi-new feature also shows the percentage of inventory that has been claimed, giving users an idea of how quickly they need to act. The brand’s app has featured limited-edition items such as gaming bundles, popular toys, cheap TVs, and the Apple Watch Ultra 2, which users can opt-in to receive the Drop Alerts for reminders before the product goes live. To give an example, the Microsoft Xbox Series X dropped today for $339.99, allowing consumers to save $160 on the product. The Drops go live around 11 a.m. on specified days and inventory is usually fully claimed by 5 p.m. that same day—and YPulse’s Luxury report data shows exclusivity makes products worth more to young consumers.
