Loneliness due to technology is impacting all generations—but Gen Z more than others. According to a recent survey by Business Insider, almost a third of Gen Z respondents felt lonelier because of technology, the highest percentage among all gens. Factors contributing to this loneliness include the constant exposure to others’ lives through social media, which can make people feel more detached. YPulse told you the biggest issue teens say their generation is facing is tech addiction, which aligns with this feeling of separation by screens. However, for Gen Z, technology and social media are hitting the other extreme, too: the survey shows this gen is also most likely to say technology makes them feel less lonely. YPulse data also shows social media is fueling a loneliness epidemic leading to feelings of isolation among young generations, most among young women. (Business Insider)
