Roar Social is blending “gamified charity” and social media to get Gen Z involved in philanthropy. Launched earlier this week, the Instagram-like platform allows Gen Z and Millennials to get involved in more than a dozen “hero” causes including climate change and homelessness. Users can create posts under each specific cause, and followers can then “like” the post by giving a micro-donation (as little as one cent) to show their support. Additionally, brands can sign onto Roar Social as partners to match user donations—with potential partners including Starbucks, Target, and Warby Parker. YPulse research shows that some of the top social causes / issues that Gen Z and Millennials care about include mental health help / care, racism, and poverty / homelessness / hunger, so Roar Social could be a way for these young gens to show their support in tangible ways.
