New data from Bumble shows that many users are looking for an “abroad fling” this summer. The online dating platform found that 53% of its daters are seeking out a “wanderlove,” a term coined by Bumble where someone is looking for a foreign, long-distance romance. The same percentage of respondents say that they feel more attractive on vacation, and 21% say they find people from foreign countries more attractive. The top five locations Bumble users are visiting this summer include the Greek Islands, the Balearic Islands, Paris, Amalfi Coast, and Lisbon. While language barriers can be difficult when trying to flirt with a potential wanderlove, an expert linguist that’s worked with Bumble says attempting to learn the foreign language of the person you’re getting to know shows “interest and willingness which can be an attractive quality.” YPulse’s Dating & Relationships report shows that 44% of Gen Z and Millennial daters use dating apps / sites to see what’s out there, while 43% use them to find their future significant other.
