Apple is coming out with Apple Vision Pro, its first augmented reality headset. By the start of 2024, the U.S. market will see Apple’s newest tech venture into the next generation of AR. This headset will supposedly be controlled by users’ hands and voice and will feature the new visionOS to explore various icons with their eyes. The product can switch from AR to full virtual reality, and as the company’s CEO explains, “It’s the first Apple product you look through, and not at.” While the price point is somewhat high, at $3499, it is able to connect to Bluetooth devices as well as Mac computers. With the growing presence of AR and artificial intelligence, this new tech has the potential to fare well with digital native generations like Gen Z and future Gen Alpha. But YPulse research shows that owning VR headsets are still quite rare for Gen Z—and the majority of young consumers (70%) agree: “I will wait until a device is no longer new before buying it to get a better price.” (The Verge)
