American Eagle is targeting young consumers in a collab with Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty. The newest collection from American Eagle features the cast of The Summer I Turned Pretty, which was a hit with Gen Z viewers last year and hopes to be again for season two. The three main faces of the show modeled for “The Summer of Us” campaign, which was released on May 23. The brand’s been promoting “custom content” on TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and even Bytedance’s new platform, Lemon8. The retailer’s CMO says they had no second thoughts about teaming up with the cast of the show, explaining that the series “has the spirit of the summer season, it has a spirit of getting outside and living out loud. The style of the show made it an obvious choice for AE.” YPulse’s Fashion Preferences & Style report data shows 20% of Gen Z say celebrities / athletes are most likely to influence the clothes they buy.
