Will Gen Z Choose Shapchat over Apple Messages even as adults? YPulse data shows young people at large are Apple loyalists, so much so that green texts from Android users are an ick. But when their text notifications are rolling in, Measure Protocol data shows Snapchat is the second top source of notifications for 16-24-year-olds, just behind Apple Messages. In fact, many teens are saying they prefer Snapchat to interact with their friends, even boasting “streaks” (continuous days of sending Snaps in a row) that are years long, and ones they have no intention of breaking. But the question is whether these early teen adopters of the app who are dedicated to it now will continue using Snapchat as they get older—or whether they’ll outgrow the platform and put its userbase at risk. YPulse’s Social Media Behavior data shows 60% of 13-17-year-olds use Snapchat, compared to 51% of 18-24-year-olds and 40% of 25-39-year-olds. (Wall Street Journal)
