The U.S. podcasting industry is growing rapidly—and creators are using Patreon to monetize their podcasts. YPulse told you the top kinds of podcasts Gen Z and Millennials listen to, and gaming is a top five category for them. Now, gaming podcasts are finding success on the monetizable platform Patreon, with some attracting over 30K patrons. In fact, gaming podcasts, including those focused on tabletop roleplaying, dominate the list of accounts with the most patrons. OTK’s “Steak and Eggs” podcast, featuring popular streamers Asmongold, Emiru, and Tectone, has a Patreon page offering bonus content to supporters who contribute at least $5 per month. Another successful podcast, “Worlds Beyond Number,” has gained over 30K patrons since launching on Patreon in February. Patreon aims to capitalize on the growing popularity of podcasting, as other platforms like YouTube and Spotify compete for dominance in the medium. The company emphasizes the importance of building a strong community for creators’ success and has even launched its own podcast to keep users updated. (Tubefilter)
