Oatly is challenging big dairy brands to reveal their climate footprint in exchange for free advertising.

May 09 2023

Oatly is challenging big dairy brands to reveal their climate footprint in exchange for free advertising. The beloved plant-based milk brand is daring the dairy industry to “share the same impact data it had to publish to receive its climate certification”—which requires them to answer 68 environmental questions. Oatly says they will pay for an advert for any company that accepts the challenge and feature it in “the NY Times, LA Times, Washington Post, as well as billboards in Times Square and Hollywood.” The brand is ultimately advocating for transparency when it comes to the impact dairy products have on the planet as well as their own: the brand also revealed it’s going to start including climate footprint numbers on its products. YPulse data shows that of the plant-based products they eat and drink on the regular, plant-based beverages—like alternative milks—are the most popular with Gen Z and Millennials.
