Gen Z’s habits are distinctly different from Millennials and older gens—and that holds true for their dining habits as well. Quick service restaurant executives from Chipotle, El Pollo Loco, Panda Express, and more recently shared the six biggest traits defining Gen Z’s dining habits. First, they make their restaurant experiences with friends an occasion—and “they tend to be value conscious but not necessarily low spenders,” so while they might not “order as many desserts, they do splash out on sides and get drinks with their meals.” They also found Gen Z isn’t shy when it comes to customizing their dishes and as the most diverse generation to date, they are more likely to indulge in spicy and cultural dishes. Furthermore, they order a lot of takeout, and speed / convenience is important to them. And, as YPulse’s Cooking & Diets report data shows, too, they love to snack and don’t always eat at “regular” times. They, of course, also see that Gen Z is pulled in by influencer marketing and enjoy trying viral menu hacks. (Business Insider)
