American Eagle and ThredUp are launching RE/AE, an online resale shop featuring vintage and secondhand garments from the Gen Z retailer’s archive. YPulse told you young consumers have an affinity for secondhand clothing and combined with their environmental concerns, American Eagle is looking to tap into their growing interest in circular fashion. Visitors of the RE/AE shop can filter items that are either pre-owned or vintage and prices of the 200-piece collection range from $10 to $40. An accompanying augmented reality lens on Snapchat will launch a virtual pop-up shop, letting users browse various items featured in the collection by “clicking the item to be redirected to the online store.” Plus, the brand is tying in an educational element with sustainability information embedded throughout the virtual experience.
