Pokémon Sleep is a new game that actually lets you play in your sleep. The Pokémon Company just released a new trailer for the highly anticipated game. The experience, which was first teased back in 2019, basically tracks users’ sleeping habits through their smartphone and divides them into “three types: dozing, snoozing, and slumbering,” and depending on the type of sleep you’re in, various creatures will emerge. Pokémon characters who sleep the same way a user does will gather around the main creature, Snorlax and are “collected” by the user, a nod to Pokémon’s original slogan “gotta catch ‘em all” but this time while sleeping. In addition to the game, a new device was revealed: Pokémon Go Plus Plus, an upgraded version of the “Pokémon Go companion device that works both as a sleep tracker for Pokémon Sleep and as a tool for Pokémon Go,” although just a phone is required for the sleep game. Pokémon Go was a huge hit in the past and mobile games continue to thrive. YPulse data shows 90% of young people play mobile games; slightly more Gen Z (93%) than Millennials (88%), and 82% of Millennial parents’ children—and Gen Alpha already has Pokémon listed in their top favorite games.
