Children’s apparel brand Hanna Andersson is launching its own resale marketplace called Hanna-Me-Downs. In collaboration with retail technology company Archive, the new platform is addressing the fact that childrenswear is a particularly wasteful category. Not only are kids tough on their clothes with messes and activity, but they also grow out of them so quickly. So, for parents looking for both a sustainable and cost-effective way to enter the resale market, Hanna-Me-Downs is providing a suggested price based on the original list price and item condition. As Gen Z and Millennials ask brands to prioritize their commitment to sustainability, clothing recycling programs are one way fashion brands can respond. YPulse’s Mass Merch Mentality trend report data shows 20% of parents shop for their kid’s clothes at an online resale platform. (Retail Dive)
