Carhartt’s new grant program is aiming to add women to the construction industry. The brand is hoping to increase representation among women in skilled trades since government data shows just 11% of women make up the construction workforce in the U.S. The company saw “more than 200 organizations submitted an application by last week’s deadline,” proving women are interested in construction career paths. Carhartt plans on announcing the winners around International Women’s Day. While their women’s lines are a smaller portion of their company, they report that business for their women’s sector is growing faster. Over the last few years, Carhartt was able to pique the interest of celebs and of course young consumers were quick to follow. (Modern Retail)
