Gen Z is tired of “that girl” and is embracing the “party girl” aesthetic. On social media, perfectly curated content is the norm—but users are over it. YPulse’s data has found that the effort to look perfect on social media is taking its toll, especially on young females. Now some are rebelling against the unachievable “that girl” aesthetic with its clean no-make-up-makeup looks, Olaplex buns, 20-step skincare routines, and neutral wardrobe. Instead, young creators have been posting more relatable content showcasing blurry nights out with friends, Euphoria style glitter, smudged eyeliner, and “night luxe” vibes. The party girl lifestyle rejects pressures for perfection and embraces indulgence. Some are interpreting the content as a fight against toxic wellness standards. (NYMag)
