Uber is launching a new electric car service featuring an array of Teslas.YPulse research shows that 75% of young consumers agree, “Electric, chargeable cars are the future,” and Uber is making that future more accessible. The brand’s new service Uber Comfort Electric will allow users to specifically request that they ride in an electric vehicle. The effort is a partnership with both Tesla and Polestar (a Volvo unit), and part of their goal of “becoming a zero-emissions mobility platform by 2040.” The Uber app will also feature new incentives to help drivers choose to operate in electric cars with maps showing where charge stations are located and cost calculators. Our Sustainability Report shows 78% of young consumers say corporations should take more responsibility for fighting climate change, and the majority have changed some aspect of their own behavior because of climate change as well, indicating that Uber’s new electric options will be well-received.
