Gen Z and Millennials are sharing “out of touch Boomer boss” stories, and it’s a lesson for employers. The hashtag #horribleboss currently has 12.9 million views on TikTok, with videos of young people sharing their work horror stories, and BuzzFeed recently asked their community of Gen Z and Millennials to share their own tales. Not respecting workers boundaries or their work/life balance is a major theme, from bosses guilting employees for taking time off to expecting them to work to the point of burnout. Not paying employees what they deserve, or need to survive, is another. YPulse’s What’s Next for Work Trend Report found that young employees are most likely to quit jobs that are bad for their mental health, or don’t have a healthy work/life balance. Bosses with unrealistic expectations around work and pay are destined to lose talent. (BuzzFeed)
