Mattel is bringing a “World of Barbie” experience to North America this summer, giving young fans the chance to immerse themselves in Barbie’s universe. We told you that branded getaways are hot right now—and after revealing the first look of the highly anticipated Barbie live-action movie, Mattel is partnering with entertainment company Kilburn Live to bring an immersive Barbie experience to North America. Fans can walk down Barbie’s neighborhood streets and explore play sets, including a life-size version of her bubblegum pink camper van featuring a hammock visitors can lounge on. There will also be a pink carpet lined with a row of six giant doll boxes, with themes from “Western” to “Fashionista” for guests to take a photo in. Finally, attendees will be able to step inside the iconic Malibu Dreamhouse, where they can sit in Barbie’s living room, kitchen, play in the patio with a fake pool, and explore her closet. The “World of Barbie” tour will kick off in Toronto before making its way to the U.S. in cities including New York, Chicago, and Dallas. YPulse’s Playtime trend research explores how Millennial parents want to share the toys from their own childhood with their kids—and according to Kilburn Live’s CEO, while the experience is for everyone, it is sure to stir some nostalgia in adult fans: “You also have an older generation who’s going to walk through and be brought back to their childhood days.” (PEOPLE)
